The crack of the bat, the scent of roasted peanuts and the taste of your favorite frosty beverage –it’s finally baseball season! For military members and veterans, summer doesn’t just bring the heat but also hot discounts on Major League Baseball (MLB) game tickets, live streaming and fan gear.
Major League Baseball offers significant discounts and exclusive offers for current and former military members and their families. If you’re a military baseball fan, you can get military discount MLB tickets to home games and the Baseball Hall of Fame. You can also get military discounts from MLB’s official fan shop and discounts on MLB.TV packages.
Following are current discounts your military service earns you on various MPB products. We list military discounts for game tickets on a chart near the end of the article.
MLB Shop sells officially licensed jerseys, caps and other baseball gear. MLB Shop offers a 15% discount to these categories of military members:
You don’t have to worry about finding MLB Shop coupons or using an mlbshop.com discount code to get your 15% discount. Here’s how to verify your military status:
MLB Shop verifies your military status through ID.me. You likely already have an ID.me account from using VA benefits like MyHealtheVet. If you don’t, it’s easy to set one up.
ID.me used to be Troop ID. If you had a Troop ID account, your information should have migrated to ID.me.
If you have difficulty verifying through ID.me, you can call their support team at 866-775-4363. Telephone support is available 24 hours per day.
MLB.TV is your way of streaming Major League Baseball games that aren’t offered on television in your area. You can buy packages to watch your favorite team or all MLB teams on a monthly or annual basis.
And like many MLB products, your military status earns you a discount with MLB.TV.
Service members, including active-duty military and veterans, can get discounts on MLB.TV by purchasing and verifying through GovX. According to GovX, its verification process recognizes the following statuses:
Virtually any military status gets you verification through GovX, which you can then apply to multiple baseball products including MLB.TV.
To redeem your military discount for MLB TV, log in to this GovX page and follow the prompts to get up to 35% off regular prices. This saves up to $49 on MLB.TV’s all-teams annual package.
If don’t want to subscribe to MLB.TV, but still want to watch baseball, you can find plenty of MLB Network live-streamed games on these platforms:
You can sign up for MLB.TV subscriptions through each of these platforms. You can also get MLB live stream free trials here for each MLB.TV package.
If you ever find yourself around Cooperstown NY, consider visiting the legendary Baseball Hall of Fame. Veterans who honorably served receive a steeply discounted price of $19 for adult tickets, which usually cost $28. Active-duty military and career retired military personnel get in for free.
To get $9 off regular admission for honorably discharged veterans, click the “Reserve Tickets Now” button on the Baseball Hall of Fame’s ticket page. From there, you’ll land on a page where you can add “Veteran” tickets to your cart.
Note: An internal discrepancy shows a cost of $28 for the vet tickets, but once you add them to your cart, the site will automatically discount them to $19.
Click the cart icon to view your discounted tickets and check out online. When you pick up your tickets at the Baseball Hall of fame will call window, you will need to show proof of your veteran’s status, such as your DD214.
To get in free to the Baseball Hall of Fame, active duty and career retirees can call (607) 547-0397 to reserve tickets. When you show up to pick up your tickets, you will need to show your valid active or retired military ID card.
