Military gyms are free, but you may want to shop around for a commercial gym membership if you don’t live near a base or need more fitness options. Several major fitness chains offer substantial military discounts on gym memberships.
Active duty service members and their families may be eligible for free YMCA memberships through the Department of Defense’s Armed Services YMCA Military Outreach Initiative.
You’re eligible for a free membership if:
- You’re on active duty at a location where there is not a military fitness facility
- You’re a dependent of a military member who is on an unaccompanied tour or who is deployed
- You’re assigned to a community-based warrior transition unit where there is no nearby military fitness facility

Your local YMCA may offer additional military and veteran discounts, call or check with the front desk to see what’s available.
Gold’s Gym offers a military discount of $5 off monthly fees at multi-gym memberships, which are good at corporate-owned locations, said Ashley Lennington, a spokesperson for the company, in an email. Lennington said that military discounts at franchise locations vary.
YouFit offers affordable personal training, nutritional counseling and on-demand workout classes in 10 southern and eastern states. Prices vary by location, but military members and first responders get a 20% discount off membership fees with no contract necessary.
Crunch Fitness has over 400 U.S. gym locations in the United States. Military members living or working near a Crunch Fitness gym can get a seven-day free trial membership. Just verify your military status through ID.me.
CrossFit offers free daily workouts for anyone to complete at one of their independently-owned gyms or at home with minimal equipment. Military discounts on Crossfit memberships vary by ownership and location. However, active-duty Army soldiers can take CrossFit certification courses through ArmyIgnitED, according to Crossfit’s official Instagram account.
Veterans and other service members can ask about tuition reimbursement for the same courses by emailing [email protected].
Orangetheory Fitness offers hour-long classes featuring a full-body high-intensity interval training (HIIT) workout. The chain doesn’t provide a universal military discount, but some locations offer special deals and discounts to military members.
24 Hour Fitness
24 Hour Fitness offers coaching, cardio and weight workouts, classes and a proprietary fitness app, 24GO. Some gyms include basketball courts, lap pools, racquetball, saunas and more.

While the United States Automobile Association (USAA) doesn’t have a gym, it does offer a nearly-universal gym membership program that travels with you.
USAA members can opt-in for Active&Fit Direct. For just $25 per month, Active&Fit Direct club members can access any 11,600 gym locations and 7,600 workout videos without long-term contracts.

The Joint Corp.
The Joint Corp. offers a special military discount on its chiropractic care packages. Active and retired military personnel, as well as their immediate family members can schedule an initial chiropractic exam and adjustment at any of The Joint’s 600-plus locations for just $19. The Joint’s Military Appreciation Programalso knocks $10 off its monthly packages. Plans that include four visits per month are $59 for veterans and service members.
Massage Envy offers military discounts on their memberships, but the discount varies by location. Contact your local franchise for details on the store’s discount.

Wellness is a holistic concept – what you put into your body often determines what you can get out of it. Some top supplement and nutrition companies offer significant military discounts.
GNC offers a 15% military discount when you shop online. To use yours, create a GNC account, navigate to your profile and click “Verify with ID.me.”
Bodybuilding.com sells supplements, fitness plans and apparel. The retailer offers a 10% military discount coupon code you can use on all its products. Verify your military status with ID.me to access it.

Old School Labs’ sells time-proven supplements manufactured with clean ingredients.
Old School Labs offers a 15% discount to current military members who buy from their website or Amazon.com storefront. However, the discount comes as a refund, which you get by filling out this form.
Pure Formulas sells a range of vitamins, probiotics, nutritional supplements and more.
Pure Formulas offers a 10% military discount when you verify with the ID.me link on its military discount page. After verification, you should automatically see the 10% discount in your checkout cart after you add items.
Military Discounts on Home Fitness
Beachbody doesn’t offer a military discount on its streaming workouts or products.

Military Discounts on Fitness Apparel and Electronics
From smartwatches to kettlebells, a host of personal and at-home fitness products can complement your workout regimen. Many brands offer instant online military status verification, making discount approval easier than ever.
You can get a 10% discount on purchases from Apple’s veteran and military store when you verify your eligibility through ID.me. The special discount portal includes Apple Watch products, which offer heart-rate monitoring, exercise tracking, blood oxygen monitoring and other fitness applications.

Asics offers 40% off to active-duty, National Guard and reserve service members, veterans and military family members. You’ll need to get a new code through ID.me verification each time you place an order.
