Peterson Space Force Base History
Peterson Space Force Base once served as an air support base for Camp Carson. Army Air Forces trained and supported Cold War air defense centers at the installation. The base underwent significant transformations, including its renaming from Peterson Air Force Base to Peterson Space Force Base in July 2021, reflecting its prominent role in the new space service.

Peterson Space Force Base Surrounding Area

The Peterson SFB base offers two main Child Development Centers (CDCs) for childcare. Each center offers full day care for infants, toddlers and preschool aged children. There are also school care options during the school year for students.
Schooling
El Paso County encompasses ten school districts, with seven located in the urban areas of Colorado Springs and the remaining three in Woodland Park, Palmer Lake, and Monument.
