Located 35 miles southwest of Bloomington, Naval Support Activity Crane (NSA Crane) houses the Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane Division (NSWC Crane Division). Established in 1941, NSA Crane has evolved from a Naval Ammunition Depot to the third-largest naval installation in the world.

Naval Support Activity Crane History
Founded in 1941 as the Naval Ammunition Depot, NSA Crane expanded its horizons during the 1960s to include logistics, repair, design, and more. Key milestones include:
- 1974: Integration into the Naval Sea Systems Command.
- 1977: Introduction of the Crane Army Ammunition Activity (CAAA) command.
- 1992: Renaming to Crane Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center.
- 2005: Retention of most operations, with some moved to China Lake.
