    Naval Air Station Fallon History

Established in 1942, NAS Fallon was initially part of a defense network against potential Japanese threats but soon transitioned to a Navy training base. Significant developments include its 1972 upgrade to a major aviation command and housing the Strike Fighter Squadron 127, or “Desert Bogeys,” from 1987-1996. In 1996, TOPGUN moved from NAS Miramar to NAS Fallon, prompting the construction of new infrastructure.
