    What Kind of Base is NAS JRB Fort Worth?

    Operated by the United States Navy Reserve, NAS JRB Fort Worth houses the Navy, Marine Corps Reserve, Air Force Reserve, and Texas Air National Guard units. Formerly known as Carswell Air Force Base, it served the Strategic Air Command during the Cold War and was a key location for B-36 Peacemaker bombers. Today, it’s a joint reserve base, hosting diverse fighter/attack and airlift units. Conveniently, Lockheed Martin’s assembly facility is nearby, producing the F-16 Fighting Falcon and F-35 Lightning II.

    NAS JRB Fort Worth offers some on-base housing. There are roughly 80 units currently, but there is a wait time to get in them, so incoming service members are encouraged to get on a waiting list as soon as they can.

    Off-base housing options remain available in the nearby Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.

    PCS and TDY Lodging

    At NAS JRB Fort Worth, temporary lodging is available for both Temporary Duty (TDY) and Permanent Change of Station (PCS) personnel at the Navy Gateway Inns & Suites. There is also the Combined Bachelor Quarters (CBQ) available for some incoming personnel.
