Fort Cavazos is in Killeen, Texas. It is between both cities Austin and Waco The post is the headquarters of III Armored Corps, First Army Division West and is home to the 1st Cavalry Division and 3rd Cavalry Regiment. Once named Fort Hood, Fort Cavazos is one of the most populated U.S. military installations in the world. The fort plays a pivotal role in testing and training of new armored U.S. army equipment.

Fort Cavazos Surrounding Area
Fort Cavazos is near the town of Killeen. Within about an hour drive, you can find the cities of Waco and Austin, Texas. Austin houses such landmarks as the Texas State Capitol. The region is home to prairie vegetation as well as hiking trails for outdoor activities.
