    Creech Air Force Base History

    Creech’s history roots back to World War I, evolving from a “tent city” to a significant military training camp and nuclear testing site. Now, it’s a hub for operating MQ-9 Reaper remotely piloted aircraft for global missions. The base is named after retired Air Force General Wilbur L. Creech.

    There are no on-base housing options at Creech AFB.

    There are some off-base housing options in the nearby Indian Springs, Nevada. Housing options are also available in the northern part of the Las Vegas metropolitan area.

    Creech Air Force Base Surrounding Area

    Creech Air Force Base is located in Clark County, Nevada. The base is about a half-hour drive northwest of the Las Vegas metropolitan area.

    The surrounding area offers a variety of outdoor and recreational attractions, including fishing, water sports and mountainous landscapes just a short drive away. Despite its remote location, the base and the Las Vegas Valley offer a vibrant living and working environment, with some of the best entertainment and recreation in the world.


    You can find on-base medical services on the Creech AFB. The Creech Medical Aid Station offers medical care outpatient care, dental care and a pharmacy. For more extensive care options, attend the Mike O’Callaghan Federal Medical center on Nellis Air Force Base in North Las Vegas.


    The Creech Air Force Base does not offer any childcare options on-base. Options for childcare could likely be found in the local community near the base.


    For those living in-and-around Creech AFB, families will be in the Clark County School District. There are no schools on Creech AFB.
