The military pay increase for fiscal year 2014 is 1% as signed into law by President Obama on Dec. 26, 2013.  This is based on the Department of Defense’s recommendation and President Obama’s proposal in the Fiscal Year 2014 Budget proposal that was sent to Congress.  The DoD’s recommendation was based on the need to maintain the balance of being competitive with military pay while being accountable to costs to taxpayers.

“For calendar year 2014, consistent with the views of the uniformed military leadership, the Budget provides a 1.0 percent increase to basic pay, a 4.2 percent increase in the Basic Allowance for Housing, and a 3.4 percent increase in Basic Allowance for Subsistence.” – 2014 Fiscal Year 2014 Budget Proposal
