First and foremost, thank you for your service. Secondly, as Veterans Day rolls around, you’ve earned discounts and deals as a small gesture for your service. While there are numerous discounts to explore, I wanted to say that we at Veteran.com have got you covered.

We wanted to make it easy to find Veterans Day discounts, so we created a huge database of hundreds (possibly more than a thousand) Veterans Day discounts, deals, and free meals years ago. Each year, we’ve updated with the most current deals and added to them. I promise you, it’s the most comprehensive list on the internet. (In fact, between me and you, a lot of other sites take our list for themselves.)

But if you don’t want to sift through discounts that don’t interest you on this day or include places that aren’t where you live, I understand. That’s why I’ve done two things: created a piece aimed at helping you plan your day on Veterans Day to maximize your discounts and show you the savings, and wrote this piece for the folks in the great state of Texas! Enjoy!

Note: These aren’t the only options, there are just the ones with freebies!

Veterans Day Breakfast Deals

Starting off the day, knock out some free breakfast at one of these places:

  • Country Kitchen: Enjoy a free Country Scramble breakfast.
  • Denny’s: Veterans get a free “Build-Your-Own Grand Slams” from 5 a.m. to noon.
  • IHOP: Veterans can enjoy free Red, White, and Blue pancakes.

Veterans Day Free Meals When You Dine-In for Lunch or Dinner

Whether you’re planning to treat yourself or gather with friends and family, these dine-in restaurants are serving up some solid discounts for veterans on Veterans Day:

  • Applebee’s: Veterans can get a free meal from a special menu.
  • Texas Roadhouse: Veterans receive a free meal voucher. (It’s kind of nice if you want to come back when it’s less crowded!)
  • Dog Haus: This hot dog chain is offering a free Haus Dog to veterans and active-duty servicemembers.
  • Cotton Patch Cafe: You can get a free chicken-fried steak or chicken-fried chicken for dine-in orders.
  • Outback Steakhouse: (New in 2025) Veterans and active duty servicemembers can receive an Aussie 3-course meal.
  • Olive Garden: Olive Garden offers veterans a free meal from a select menu. The best part is that breadsticks, salad, or soup (my favorite is the gnocchi!) are included.
  • Chili’s Bar and Grill: Veterans get a free meal from a special menu.
  • Pizza Inn: Enjoy a free buffet at participating restaurants.
  • Luna Grill: There’s a buy-one-get-one-free option for veterans.
  • Thirsty Lion: Veterans and active-duty are able to eat for free.
  • Lazy Dog: Offers a free “Fireside Favorites” to veterans and active duty servicemembers.
  • Cantina Laredo: (Dallas area) The restaurant will offer a complimentary meal to all veterans and active-duty servicemembers.
  • Perry’s Steakhouse and Grille: Veterans and active duty service members can grab a free pork chop dinner between 10:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Veterans Day Fast Food Discounts

Let’s say you’re on the go and don’t want to spend a lot of time eating at a dine-in spot for lunch; many fast food options are available.

  • McDonald’s: This one is kind of sticky. Not all offer deals, but many do, so be sure to ask. The ones that have had deals before often include at least a free coffee, but sometimes they range to include a full combo meal.
  • Dairy Queen: Some Dairy Queen locations offer free ice cream treats!
  • Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers: Veterans can receive a free combo meal card on Veterans Day, which can be redeemed on the same day or later.
  • Starbucks: Starbucks offers a free tall brewed coffee for veterans and military spouses. (This is one everyone in the family can enjoy!)
  • Little Caesar’s Pizza: Some Little Caesar’s locations offer free pizza slices or discounts. (Pizza slice on the go, say less.)

Final Point

Once again, I would like to thank you for your service. You and your family have made countless sacrifices for this country. Please remember to bring your military ID or proof of service when you go out.
