The Naval Support Activity Orlando (NSA Orlando) is a crucial military base in Orlando’s Central Florida Research Park. While small, NSA Orlando delivers essential support services to all tenant DoD agencies, including public works support like construction and maintenance. They also offer disaster preparedness, particularly during hurricane season.

Naval Support Activity Orlando History
Established in 1941, NSA Orlando stands as the Navy’s main research and development hub. It’s renowned for creating and testing aviation, surface, and undersea training systems. The base also supports systems for other U.S. armed forces branches. Originating as the Special Devices Desk during WWII, its focus has been on advanced training devices, undergoing several name changes and relocations throughout its history. It’s the only active Navy installation in Orlando and falls under the Naval Air Systems Command.

The small size of the installation has led to the lack of on-base medical care facility. Healthcare options are also available in the local community in nearby Orlando.
There are no Child Development Centers (CDCs) on the installation.
Due to the size of the installation, NAS Orlando doesn’t offer any on-base schools. Several school districts including the Orange County Public School district are in the area.
