Since its inception in 1941, Moody AFB has been integral to the Air Training Command, Tactical Air Command, and Air Combat Command. It focuses on integrating air and space power into ground combat operations.

Moody Air Force Base Housing
Housing at Moody AFB is part of a private-public agreement. Hunt Military Communities and Balfour Beatty Communities operate the private housing options. Limited rooms at the Moody Inn recommend early reservations, call 229-257-3893 to check availability. Only ten rooms accept cats and dogs (excluding specific aggressive breeds). Grassy Pond Recreation Park may accommodate house pets.

Moody Air Force Base Surrounding Area
Moody AFB lies 30 miles from the Florida border and 10 miles from Valdosta, Georgia. With nearby attractions like the Lowndes County Historical Society and Grand Bay Wetland Education Center, the area offers a rich history and diverse experiences.
Healthcare
The 23rd Medical Group at Moody Air Force Base offers medical services for military personnel. Dental services are available for assigned active-duty personnel. They include examination, dental hygiene, operative, endodontic, periodontal, temporomandibular pain, and oral surgery. The Dental Clinic is on the east side of the main building.
Note: There are no emergency services on-site. For emergencies on or off Moody AFB, dial 911. Our ambulances only operate within the base, transporting patients to local emergency departments as needed. Operating hours are Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; closed on weekends and federal holidays. Contact 229-257-2778 for more information.
Childcare
There is at least one Child Development Center on Moody AFB. It offers a variety of care, ranging from full day care, extended care and school year care. The services are offered to children as young as infants, to school-aged students.
Schooling
Moody AFB is supported by a zoned school district system. Most military families, especially those residing on base, attend Lowndes County School District schools. Additionally, personnel might live in areas covered by Valdosta City Schools, Berrien County Schools, and Lanier County Schools. Children need to enroll in the school located within their residential district.
