Marine Corps Base Quantico

Marine Corps Base Quantico, often shortened to MCB Quantico, is a pivotal Marine Corps installation near Triangle, Virginia. A massive installment, spanning more than 50,000 acres, it functions primarily as a training hub and bears the title “Crossroads of the Marine Corps.” The base hosts the Marine Corps Combat Development Command, which is responsible for crafting Marine combat strategies. It also shelters the Marine Corps Officer Candidates School and a research center specializing in telecommunications equipment.

MCB Quantico offers essential facilities and services, bolstering training and readiness. Beyond military roles, it houses the FBI’s chief research and training grounds and the Drug Enforcement Administration’s primary training center.

Marine Corps Base Quantico Housing

MCB Quantico offers housing options on the installation. Liberty Military Housing manages and maintains housing.  For on-base housing, including applications, call 703-432-8500.

Off-base housing is available. It’s just outside the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, with options for either urban or rural housing. To learn more about the process, contact the Housing Referral Office at 703-784-2291.

PCS and TDY Lodging

At the Marine Corps Base Quantico, temporary lodging options are available for both Temporary Duty (TDY) and Permanent Change of Station (PCS) personnel. The Inns of the Corps Quantico, offers nearly 80 rooms for a temporary stay. PCS reservations can be made up to a year in-advance, while TAD or TDY reservations can be made up to 90 days in-advance. Marine Corps Base Quantico Surrounding Area

Marine Corps Base Quantico is surrounded by the town of Quantico, which can only be accessed through the base, the Amtrak train station, or from the Potomac River. The surrounding area is rich in history and culture, with the city of Fredericksburg, one of the most historical cities in America. To the east is the beautiful Chesapeake Bay and to the west are the breathtaking Appalachian Mountains, Shenandoah Valley, and Skyline Drive.

Healthcare

On-base medical care is available at the Naval Health Clinic. It  located at Marine Corps Base Quantico. The facility offers a range of services including a Family Practice Clinic and a Pharmacy, Certain specialty care services are provided like optometry, mental health and physical therapy.

Childcare

The Marine Corps Base Quantico offers a variety of childcare options through its three Child Development Centers (CDCs). They offer full day care for a variety of ages, including infants, toddlers and preschool aged children. One is also a youth center, primarily focused on offering school year care for students on the base.

Schooling

At MCB Quantico, children living on the installation can attend one of two Department of Defense Elementary and Secondary Schools (DDESS) under the Department of Defense Education Activity. Crossroads Elementary School accommodates children from pre-kindergarten to 5th grade, while those in 6th to 12th grade can enroll in Quantico Middle/High School. The latter also provides a Marine Corps JROTC program for students from 9th to 12th grade. To qualify, families must reside on the installation.

Off-base education options include several school options in the nearby school districts: Prince William County, Spotsylvania and Stafford County.
