Little Rock Air Force Base
Updated: October 19, 2023Little Rock Air Force Base is just northeast of Little Rock, Arkansas, just outside Jacksonville. The base is pivotal for C-130 Hercules training. It also trains pilots, navigators, flight engineers, and loadmasters in tactical airlift and aerial delivery.

What Kind of Base is Little Rock AFB?
Little Rock AFB is home to the 19th Airlift Wing, boasting the world’s largest C-130 Hercules transport fleet, and supports disaster relief and military operations. The 189th Airlift Wing of the Arkansas Air National Guard and the C-130 division of the U.S. Air Force Weapons School are also based here.
Little Rock AFB Housing
Little Rock AFB offers housing options for families on-base. HP Communities LLC operates and manages housing on the base. To apply for housing, reach out the Housing Referral Office at 501-987-6429.
Off-base housing is also an option, with the surrounding areas of Little Rock, North Little Rock, Conway, Jacksonville, and Cabot offering a range of residential choices.
PCS and TDY Lodging
At the Little Rock AFB, temporary lodging is available at the Razorback Inn, which operates 24 hours a day. Both TDY and PCS personnel can make reservations by calling 501-987-6753.

Little Rock AFB Surrounding Area
Little Rock Air Force Base is a United States Air Force base located approximately 17 miles northeast of Little Rock, Arkansas. The base sits in Pulaski County, adjacent to the city of Jacksonville. It’s a short 15-mile drive north of Little Rock, a city rich in history and culture with attractions such as the Clinton Presidential Center and the Little Rock Central High School National Historic Site.
The surrounding area offers a variety of outdoor and recreational attractions, including the picturesque Arkansas River, Pinnacle Mountain State Park, and the Big Dam Bridge, the longest pedestrian and bicycle bridge in North America.
Healthcare
On-base medical services are provided by the 19 Medical Group at Little Rock AFB, offering a range of clinics and specialty care. The facility operates on a priority system, ensuring that active-duty military personnel receive the highest priority, followed by family members of active-duty personnel and retirees.
Note: The facility is closed every 4th Thursday, and does not offer any emergency services or inpatient care.
Childcare
Little Rock AFB offers childcare options at its two Child Development Centers (CDCs). They provide full-day care and extended day care. It offers care options for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.
There are also options for school year programs after school for students on-base.
Schooling
Those living on Little Rock AFB would be in the Jacksonville North Pulaski School District. There are also several charter schools in the region, as well as the Little Rock School District.
