    Carlisle Barracks Housing

    There is a residential community on the installation. Balfour Beatty Communities manages the housing options on the grounds. They primarily are rental homes. There are also barracks for some army service members.

    PCS and TDY Lodging

    The IHG Army Hotel that offers Temporary Lodging for Carlisle Barracks is recognized as a member of the “Historia Collection Hotel,” a group of hotels of historical importance to the US Army. To confirm lodging, contact your gaining unit. Reservations for on-post temporary lodging can be made up to 50 days in advance and should be arranged at least 15 days before the intended occupancy date.

    Carlisle Barracks Surrounding Area

    Carlisle Barracks are near the state capital, Harrisburg. The base is surrounded by a rich blend of agriculture, tourism, industry, and services that play vital roles in the local economies. The nearby towns of Harrisburg and Hershey form a nucleus of culture, education, healthcare, and government. The area also boasts outdoor and recreational attractions, with the Alleghenies offering opportunities for hiking and exploration.

    Healthcare

    Dunham U.S. Army Health Clinic is a care center offering outpatient treatment and primary medical services to eligible beneficiaries. The clinic provides a range of services including family medicine, pediatrics, and optometry, along with support in behavioral health, occupational health, and industrial hygiene. Additionally, Dunham facilitates immunizations, laboratory tests, radiology, and pharmacy support.

    Childcare

    The installation offers one Child Development Center for childcare services. It offers full day care for kids ranging from infant to preschool aged. There is also a program for students that operates during the school year.

    Schooling

    The local Carlisle Area School District caters to both on-post residents of Barracks and the wider Carlisle area; no schools are located on the installation.  Parents or guardians have the option to enroll their children online or by calling the Carlisle District Registrar at 717- 240-6800.
