Montgomery GI Bill-Selected Reserve (Chapter 1606) rates are effective dates from Oct. 1 through Sept. 30.

Use your class start date to determine which year’s charts you should use, according to the Department of Veterans Affairs. For example, if your class starts in August 2023, you will receive the 2022-2023 rate.

The 2023-2024 rates increased by about 6.15% for most students from the previous fiscal year.

Yearly inflation costs raise the price of education, so education benefits increase every October to keep up with inflation-driven demands.

MGIB-SR rates for 2022-2023 rates increased by about 7.3% from the 2021-2022 school year.

MGIB benefits cover up to 36 months of schooling. Using your benefits at a school with a nine-month academic year should stretch them to cover about up to a four-year degree.

Here are the rates, according to the VA.
