About Me: After Boot Camp, AP and Aviation Ordiance School, I joined Fighter Squadron
113 of Carrier AirGroup 11. I was with the Squadron for the next three years.
We made two Korean tours during that time. The first tour was aboard the USS Phillipine Sea CV 47. After the first tour we moved from North Island to Miramar Naval Air Station where the squadron transitioned from the Corsairs
to F9F Panther Jets. On my second tour the Air Group embarked aboard the USS Kersearge CV 33. These were both great ships. I didn't have sufficient time left on my enlistment to go on the next tour so I was transferred to the Fleet Air Gunnery Unit In El Centro, Ca. This was in August of 1954 and it was hotter than Hades!! I finished my enlistment in this assignment.
Words of Wisdom: If I had it to do over I would make a career of the Military. I really did enjoy my service time. I really believe that every young man coming out of High School should be required to spend four years serving his country while
learning about discipline, duty, loyalty and honor.
