This day has been set aside to honor and remember our countries POW/MIA's.
National POW/MIA Recognition Day is traditionally observed on the third Friday of September. This year, the day will be commemorated on Sept. 19, 2008. The theme for 2008 commemorates the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific.

By law, the black POW/MIA flag can be flown over federal facilities and cemeteries, post offices and military installations on that day.
