Obama Quiz's Would-be Appointees on Guns

Tucked in at the end of the Obama's questionnaire and listed under “Miscellaneous,” it reads: “Do you or any members of your immediate family own a gun? If so, provide complete ownership and registration information. Has the registration ever lapsed? Please also describe how and by whom it is used and whether it has been the cause of any personal injuries or property damage.”
As a Veteran who has sworn to uphold and defend the Constitution, I find it troubling that President-Elect Obama is screening appointees by their family history of gun ownership. The Second Amendment to the Constitution gives us the Right to Bear Arms. That would be like a quizzing a potential appointee to see if they've ever exercised their First Amendment Right to Free Speech. I also find it troubling that the question is sandwiched in the area of the questionnaire that includes questions about criminal history - as if owning a gun was a criminal act.
