Oath Keepers

Video. Oath Keepers is an association of currently serving military, veterans, and peace officers who will fulfill the oath we swore to support and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic, so help us God.

Our oath is to the Constitution, not to the politicians, and we will not obey unconstitutional (and thus illegal) and immoral orders, such as orders to disarm the American people or to place them under martial law and deprive them of their ancient right to jury trial.

We Oath Keepers have drawn a line in the sand. We will not "just follow orders."

Our motto is "Not on our watch!"

If you, the American people, are forced to once again fight for your liberty in another American Revolution, you will not be alone. We will stand with you.

I hear this slogan more and

I hear this slogan more and more these days. It's a little disturbing given the times. These are, too, disturbing times, there is an undercurrent of unrest and dissatisfaction of the policies of our elected National Government. We, as a Nation of citizens, do however, retain the ability to elect our chosen representatives out of their positions, even the President of our Country. I don't think revolution is called for, rather we should use our Constitutional Rights as they were intended and call for another vote to remove those from positions of power should they become embroiled in the financial game which always turns them away from their electorate. Speaking as an American Indian, there is a legislative process afforded to the majority of our great Nation. Lessons from our past should show us violence and internal turmoil only weaken our voices as a whole. Revolution only tears apart what we have built for the last two hundred thirty four years, that which guarantees a Republic's survival, for only as a Democratic Republic can we ensure the blessings of that which our Nation's founders fought to secure. Securing the blessings of freedom was paramount in the infancy of the United States of America's founding. It is a right, under God, given to every man and woman as long as they draw breath and live on US soil, it has become a message we have strayed from in the last twenty years. We are given the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, unfortunately, under the Bill of rights and the First Amendment, some have chosen to take this right and begin forcing others to live under the auspices of treading upon their rights while they trample the most basic of every American citizen's rights to be free and to live freely themselves. A majority have elected flash-in-the-pan leaders believing these canpaign promises, yet these same choose to attempt a suppression of rights for the very people whom elected them, expecting same to fulfill promises made. Politicians make promises they can't keep, everybody knows this who is familiar with the political process. Promises spoken from a politician should always be taken with a grain of salt for it is the very salt to which we turn a blind eye which will come back to burn and tear us. While I tend to agree with the Oath Keepers in heart, emotion doesn't necessarily maintain a Nation. Leaders must serve the common interest of those whom they serve, not chase the almighty dollar.

In my humble opinion, it is our vote as a Nation which put these men and women in their positions of authority and representation. If we are unhappy with them, we should use the vote to remove them from those positions. To speak of revolution would only pit father against son and brother against brother or sister as the loyalty may call for. We have strong voices, we must use them. The men and women in Congress and in the White House will have no choice but to realize and recognize the voices of we whom have given them their places. The USA has many enemies, domestic and foreign, whom await our downfall. Our only strength, ultimately, is to remember where we came from, learn the mistakes of our past and to push into the future together. The only thing that holds fifty States together as a Nation is the fact we have always held our position together.

If you don't believe it can

If you don't believe it can be done, I'll give you an example. I'm originally from a small rural State called South Dakota. We once had a powerful Senator named Tom Daschle whom forgot where he came from and the people of the State whom put him there every electoral cycle. This man got to the point to where he believed the other, more powerful Democratic interests which supported him, would keep him in Office. He was wrong. He went from the most powerful man in the Democratic Party in Washington DC to being just another has-been with a single election. Personally, in High School, I knew this man. He was one of my greatest heroes when he was elected. I don't know what happened in between, but I know it was too much for the People of SD to put up with. Now, I hear he's doing the lecture circuit for roughly $500 an appearance. The election process can be an effective tool, especially when America wakes up and uses the process to keep these people in check.

I would agree that there is

I would agree that there is no need for a revolution, and I don't think the Oath Keepers are calling for a revolution. But with the Federal government using and planning on using more and more U.S. Military in the United States in law enforcement, anti-terrorist, and disaster preparedness, every veteran and military member should remember the oath they took. Weapons were taken and rights were violated during recent disasters, and in the future as the military is used more frequently, the military needs to remember that they don't work for the Mayor of New Orleans, or the LAPD, but they work for the American people and they must support and defend the Constitution and the rights of the people.

And yes, we can and should make changes through the electoral process and elect leaders that reflect our desires as a country. However, in the event of a terrorist strike or natural disaster, there will be no time for elections, and the servicemembers on the ground will be point of the spear. And they need to remember their oath while they are following their orders. It is every servicemembers right and duty to refuse to obey any illegal order.
