Nam Roommates Find Each other after almost 40 years
Submitted by bamapat on 2 February 2008 - 6:43pm.
I know, this is not earth shaking and many males have this experience and we hear about it and hell, even make a movie about it. But all that aside, I was pleased as punch to discover one of my Nam roommates had contacted me and it's been almost 40 years.
We are writing (actually emailing) each other often and hope to actually see each other in April. I don't know if she knows about this site but I plan to tell her. Hey, we also had many male friends that we'd love to hear from -- some really great guys who shared their hopes, dreams, fears, humor and even some regrets with us...hope you all made it home and life has been good to you.
It's flippin cold in my neck of the woods but what the hell, we gotta take what Mother Nature gives us and when she's done being mad, then ole man winter starts blowing his bloody horn. Stay warm my friends, stay warm!
Hey, ever notice how people who tell you to calm down---are the ones who got you mad in the first place????

Females in the Armed Forces
Hi There bamapat:
Looks like you had an interesting military career. Back when I was in the Army, if you got pregnant or got married, you had to receive an early discharge, honorable of course!
There has been lots of changes, I have several female cousins who went in after me, I guess I started a trend, as they have always looked up to me as kind of a role model.
I think if is a good way to learn about people, team building, self confidence and work ethics, etc. I am sure my Vet status allowed me to get good work assignments. I work for Uncle Sam! Anyway, good to hear from you..and again that is a wonderful story you told about re-connecting with your old military buddy.
Wonderful, finding old friends after 40 years!
Alane, TA-TA for now!
